Repairs

The best laid plans sometimes don't go as planned. We prefer to replace aging equipment on its owner's schedule, but sometimes the owner's schedule is too optimistic and sometimes things just break. When that happens we can make necessary repairs when possible. We have contacts with most manufacturers for parts, and for old equipment in unique applications that can't be supported by newer equipment we can get parts.

There are many types of hard disk drive failure ranging from corruption of critical operating system files that is easy to fix, to bad spots on a hard disk drive with partial data loss, to total failure of a drive with total loss of its contents. When you have an apparent disk failure, if you have any valuable files that are not backed up your best bet is to stop, shut down your system, and call a professional. We first remove a failing hard disk drive and back it up on a healthy system, as disk drives that are failing can deteriorate in operation, and then we proceed to diagnosis and recovery. Unfortunately, some disk failures are catastrophic. For those there are services that can recover data from seemingly impossible failures, but such recovery can be pricey and take a couple of weeks. Having reliable backups of valuable data can protect its owner from the consequences of disk failure and possible expensive or failed repair.
